Students walk out of colleges in protest of gun violence

Days after at least 19 elementary faculty students and two teachers were killed in a mass shooting at an elementary college in Uvalde, Texas, college students at schools across the nation staged walkouts to protest gun violence.

In Michigan, college students at Oxford High Faculty, the place a school taking pictures occurred in November, staged a walkout at 12 p.m. on Thursday. Four students were killed in the capturing.

"You see news on daily basis about children getting shot and people your age dying and it's just extremely sad and unbelievable, particularly to see like children younger and children my age," Janoff told ABC Information. The 17 year-old says her faculty's administration was in help of the walkout and she or he hopes the over 200 planned demonstrations throughout the country send a transparent message that students are a "united front."

A walkout might not necessarily change laws, Janoff stated, but these actions present "college students are nonetheless united in this."

She stated that although most students aren't old enough to vote, they still need to see change and are prepared to take measures to have their voices heard in politics.

"College students don't need to be quiet about it just because they're a kid," Janoff mentioned.
