Mike Tyson won’t face prices in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district lawyer says

A California district attorney declined to file expenses Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police studies and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Office concluded its evaluation of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery towards another passenger on an airplane whereas ready at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe stated in an announcement.

"Our decision is that we'll not file any expenses towards Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer leading up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no costs be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement companies "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
