Taliban leader orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s women to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on women’s lives because the Taliban seized energy.

“They should put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is conventional and respectful,” said a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“Those girls who are not too outdated or younger must cowl their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, so as to avoid provocation when assembly men who are not mahram (grownup shut male family),” the decree stated.

It added that if women had no necessary work outdoors it was “higher they stay at residence.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed related restrictions on women.
