Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary School was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a dad or mum with a concealed weapon had his gun by chance go off, hitting the mother or father within the leg.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary Faculty was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a hid weapon had his gun accidentally go off, hitting the guardian in the leg.
The college had early release and students had been released on the deliberate time of 12:10 p.m.
In response to police, the mum or dad, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His damage was not critical.
The school district stated White was contained in the constructing, near the lobby space, and not in the hallway close to students when the gun went off.
Police and school officials mentioned there was no threat made and the mother or father did not have "malicious intent."

No students or employees were injured. The mum or dad was taken to an space hospital after being shot within the leg.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.
In the two days for the reason that Uvalde mass school shooting, there have been five cases in North Texas associated to guns brought to schools or threats made.

Arlington parents mentioned their minds instantly thought of the worst after they have been notified.
No mum or dad ever wants there to be a cause for them to get a textual content message saying their child's faculty is on lockdown.
However since this week's lethal capturing at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, they can not help but assume the worst after they do.
"Once I obtained the text message, I was like, ‘Oh my God, one thing goes to happen.’ I was shocked," guardian Karima Rasheed said.
While most instances, lockdowns are only drills students have to participate in, Rasheed's son, Rami, said that knowing what happened earlier this week made this lockdown different.
"I began seeing my classmates starting to cry and our trainer received a notification on their telephone saying somebody was within the building," he stated.
Guns should not allowed on school property, and oldsters FOX 4 spoke with mentioned even if it was a mistake, the timing is simply terrible.
"What are we going to do? They should go to highschool, and clearly, statistically, it is unlikely to happen, however you by no means want to be the one statistic. What if it is your youngsters?" Matthew Mitchell said.
Mitchell lives across the road from Duff Elementary. His daughters go to another Arlington college.
"I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve obtained twin six-year-olds that go to a different Arlington faculty and every time I hear there is a lockdown or a faculty taking pictures, my heart jumps into my throat," he stated.
Rasheed stated Thursday was the graduation day for 6th grade college students at Duff Elementary.
While driving her son to high school within the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever happened at his faculty.
"If one thing happened, you’ve received to run wherever that’s protected and conceal," she advised her baby.
Whereas some say the incident in Uvalde is just too recent to speak politics, Mitchell stated something needs to be accomplished now.
"They want to speak about it, they need to marketing campaign on it, they want to fundraiser on it, however they don’t wish to actually cross any laws and do anything," he added.
