Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I feel higher about the direction of our country."
In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the nation's management is dedicated to representing its folks's greatest pursuits and whether or not the US is actually "the land of the free and the home of the brave.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked dad and mom trying to prepare to cost in to stop the shooter, including a father who discovered his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are more essential than our children's freedom to go to high school without having bulletproof backpacks and lively shooter drills," Kapler wrote.
Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the lack of supply of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."
"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I may have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let it be known by means of protest. The house of the courageous should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the United States.Kerr refused to talk about basketball forward of Recreation 4 of the Warriors' collection in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, instead raising his voice as he railed against gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's capturing.
"Within the final 10 days, we've had elderly Black folks killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have kids murdered at school," Kerr instructed reporters at the start of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families which might be on the market ... I'm uninterested in the moments of silence. Sufficient."
