Federal brokers who went to Robb Elementary College in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday to confront a gunman who killed 19 children were told by native police to attend and never enter the varsity — after which decided after about half an hour to ignore that initial guidance and discover the shooter, say two senior federal law enforcement officials.

In line with the officials, agents from BORTAC, the Customs and Border Safety tactical unit, and ICE's Homeland Safety Investigations (HSI) arrived on the scene between midday and 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
