BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass school taking pictures that would have included a bombing at Berkeley Excessive College, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Division stated in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing damaging gadget supplies and threatening to commit a criminal offense which can lead to dying or nice bodily damage.

Police mentioned they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a shooting that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police didn't say if the teenager was a student at Berkeley Excessive College.

Upon executing the search warrant, police stated they discovered components to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and digital objects that could be used to create extra weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"School security stays a excessive precedence for the division," police said in an announcement. 

Details on whom the teenager was making an attempt to recruit weren't disclosed. Police said this case stays under investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens advised the college's group that the district was in shut contact with police during this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teen's weapon elements, the district relied on police expertise to evaluate any potential ongoing risk to its schools. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and safety employees about this investigation and, as is our standard observe, maintained shut contact with our BPD College Resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive College campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation interval, we had been assured that this individual did not pose an immediate risk to the Berkeley High Faculty group."

The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary motion towards the coed. 

In addition, a city corridor meeting titled: 'Tips on how to Talk to Youngsters About College Violence' supplied by Alameda County Workplace of Training is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
